I should know the story behind Metalastik because I read it somewhere
not terribly long ago, but have forgotten. I know Rootes cars often used
Metalastik components. The rubber driveshaft couplings for Imps were
Metalastik components and I seem to remember my old Hunter had various
rubber components marked Metalastik.

A Rootes specialist here in Brisbane has had those cross tube bushings
remanufactured in Teflon or some modern material. I can give his details
if anyone is interested.
