Well, when I got a head gasket set for my cast-iron head Commer 1725, it had
a varnished shim-type head gasket in it. I never used it, as the Sunbeam
Highwayman now has a proper Sunbeam alloy head, and all associated parts. If
the thickness of the gasket is taken into account when you mill the head and
block, it might be worth a try.
