If the trunk is too full, the cover may change its form or something like that.
Once I had to unscrew the hinges (?; sorry I have not a dictionary here)
and take the lid totally off to open the trunk. It was so full that stuff
in trunk had moved catch and it did not go to the lock at all but behind
it. It was raining and our tent was in trunk, as were all my tools! First I
had to take all things out via that little hole behind the rag, then open
the nuts, then remove the cover and raise our tent.
You can imagine how happy I was after that 1+ hour, and how lovely my wife
and daughter were.
By the way, what is THE RIGHT WAY to open the trunk in this kind of
occasion? My Alpine is Mk IV, earlier ones may have different pass between
hood and trunk.
