To all of you that responded to my inquirey about wire wheels I send my
thanks - even Nicholsj. I will from time to time ask some really stupid
questions and apologise in advance.
English lesson in Southern-speak; sobonics:
yuall is a singular pronoun.
all-yuall is the plural.
I work with corrosion in aqueous environments and understand hydrogen
embritlement. Rechroming is a subject I will forget. However, I still
am enamored with wire wheels. Bob Douglas mentions rebuilding them
myself. I have done this with bicycles, but rarely do these go 70 mph
down the interstate.
Without much thought - how would you straighten ww's out? Turn a
spindle on my wood lathe to fit inside of a splined hub. Since my lathe
only has a 6" swing I would need to build a jig to hold the centers for
the alignment process. Using a dial indicator and a whole bunch of
patience one should be able to align these wheels. Balancing is a whole
other matter. Has anyone out there really reworked wire wheels?
