Aluminim and Acid/Base

     Just a comment on the ongoing discussion about metals and their
     reaction to acid/base solutions. The rocker arm stands for the Alpine
     are made of aluminum. As a result, if you soak them in some of the new
     cleaners on the market such as Castrol, make sure you don't soak them
     too long. You will need to find new ones. I did this about 15 years
     ago with a solution of boiling lye. After a day, only half of the
     rocker stand was still there and it was fused to the rocker shaft.
