That's a Chrysler pentastar. Chrysler took over Rootes between 1964 and
early 1967. The pentastar started appearing in 1966.
Your mystery engine may be a factory replacement, which wouldn't have the
car's ID # stamped on it.
You mentioned that the numbers are on a "plate." Do you mean the flat,
shelf-like area of the block just in front of the oil filter, or ???
Could the "B220...." actually be "B920..."? If so, its probably a 1592cc
out of a Series III Alpine. The block may have its size and date of
manufacture in raised letters, just over the starter.
