Scott I had a similar problem with my series one, wouldn't start sometimes
when It got hot. I throughly cleaned all connections on the solenoid with
sandpaper, that helped some, but I finally changed the ignition switch and
had no more problems.
On the water pump it may be your water pump bearing, see if you can wiggle
the fan back and fourth. Or the best thing to do is remove your drive belt
and then spin the fan and see if it is making the noise. Mine went out on
my series 1 and made a rattling noise. The bearing was shot but it did not
leak water.
