I had this problem too when I added the SV oil cooler setup.
On my car, I had to wait for 5 seconds or so after startup, to
see the oil pressure build.
I performed the Rootes Service Bulletin mod, which gave
pressure a little sooner, but not quite waht I wanted.

The Service mod was little more than using gravity to hold the oil from
all draining into the pan through the pump.

Now it just looses half of the oil.

If you have to prime you pump, I would suspect a very worn
oil pump.

I plan to ultimately fix this problem by installing a 2 quart Accusump
system on my car, which will dump about
2 quarts of oil at 30 PSI into the oil rail, when ever I want it.

This also works well, during hard cornering, where the
oil pump sucks air.
