I looked at my car at lunch. Fan is about 12" from tip to tip of two of
the 4 blades. Hub is about 5". I also have a "Rootes Light Car Range
Workshop Manual WSM145" with all of the info. Thermostat should be
190F for cast iron head and 180F for aluminum head. Radiator is a "two
row tube" type, filler cap should be 9lbs/sqin. Manual states that
variations in the battery or voltage regulator can cause the gage to
read incorrectly.
Does you car overheat and boil out the water, or does the gage just read
high. Could your rad. cap be too low a pressure causing the fluid to be
discharged through the overflow? Have you tried removing the
thermostat altogather? I would be willing to fax you the Cooling
Section from the manuel if you think it would be helpful.
