If you look at the carb setup on a 70-71 Volvo 140 series, you'll find a
set of plates that deflect the heat. It was a problem on those SU's
because of the float bowl location. Those plates probably won't work
(because of the direction of the mounting holes on an SU) but you'll get
the idea.
