Drops to what pressure when hot?
As a sidebar, the new type SJ oils are reformulated (once again) for
economy and, especially in the motorcycle community, their protection
qualities have been in question. I resisted the change to moto oil (in my
bike) for a long time because I thought the stories of the newer auto oils
not properly protecting my cycle engine were hype. Well the evidence kept
mounting and cycle manufacturers actually started warning against SJ grade
oils and I gave in. I could not believe the difference this made, less
engine vibration, lower oil consumption, smoother operating clutch and 1
1/2 more MPG. If you don't believe me I don't blame you because I wouldn't
have believed it myself before I switched. Now I know motocycles are
harder on oils (air cooled, high RPM, tranny shares oil) but I'm beginning
to wonder if the new oils could be causing some problems in our auto
engines as well.
