Dan,
  regarding the steering wheel hub. I believe Victoria British carries
a hub that allows your adjustable steering column to stay that way (you
can always mount it as a fixed unit) but it is outrageously expensive
(over $100) and I have never had anything but bad experiences with VB.
Personally, I will never give them my business again. You might want
to check with Rick at Sunbeam Specialties or Curt with Classic Sunbeam.
  As for the oil problem. I do know that there are a number of
sparkplug wire manufacturers that make a wire with caps that would
effectively block those tubes. Unfortunately I cannot tell you who
those manufacturers might be, but I have seen the wires on many
occasions in local auto parts shops (not the chain stores, but smaller
independents).
