I think the stuff is called "Smog Test". It generally has a garauntee
that
if you dont pass your test, you get a refund. Forget the refund part,
if it
doesnt work, you have more pressing concerns.

I used to think the "smog test" was a "sham" to get you to buy something
that you really dont need. This was until I read something about
gasoline
additives, and smog testing. After reading this, I went back to see
what the
secret potion of the "Smog Test" . It was various alcohols, but mostly
IsoPropyl.

The chemistry speaks for itself, and it takes more mass of alcohol to
stoichiometrically combine with oxigen.

I would tell you to just go out and buy half a gallon of Isopropyl, but
it's
tough to get it in a non-medical grade, which generally has 30% water.

The proper mix of Isopropyl to gasoline would be between 5 and 10%
by volume. Ethyl alcohol will also work, but can be somewhat corrosive
to fuel system parts.

Start off with say 2 gals of 92 octane gasoline from a high turnover
gas station, and add a pint to a quart of "smog test" or the alky.

When the test is over, dilute the alcohol down with more gasoline
to prevent a continuous lean condition.
