I'm a newsletter editor too. If there is a line of communication between
other editors aside from this list, I don't know about it. I sometimes
swap items with Ron Beckett of the Hillman Owners Club of Australia, but
that's about it.
This is my first year, but I've never had a problem finding content. I
have access to lots of period magazine articles, but I prefer to avoid
using them. To me they seem to lose their magic in the reprinting. I
sometimes use old advertisements, but that's about it.
In the past we have had trouble getting members to write original
material, so I started personally asking members to write a profile on
themselves. The appearance of these articles started an avalanche and
now I get original material regularly.
As for layout I'm still experimenting after nine months in the job. I
tend to regard the Hillman OC Aust newsletter as the benchmark for a
small club like mine. We do a magazine exchange with the SCOCSA, so you
should have access to some of my past newsletters, Paul.
Good luck with your new job.
