My brother drove my series II a few weeks back and has now come
down seriously ill with the Sunbeam virus. He is looking at a car that a
friend of ours started to restore about 3 years ago and then lost interest
in the project. The car is a series V and has been stipped of interior
and exterior parts and has been sanded down to the metal and had some
primer applied and some left to develop surface rust. There is no serious
rust in the car except for the battery box. The body is straight without
any bondo. The car has not been started in years and he couldn't get it
going the other day...probably a carb problem. He has purchased many new
parts to go onto the car including: Lat wheels, soft top, interior panels
and carpet, wood dash, and trim seals. He has the hard top but I don't
know if he has picked up the parts to refinish that or not. The chrome is
in reasonable shape, but the bumpers are dented and will need minor
straightening and rechroming.
What is the value of this package? He is asking $3500 but I
suspect $2500 is more realistic. Any suggestions?
