Hey when was the last time you were in the americas?
Here in California, we can get no better than 92 octane, and
most super unleaded is 91.
An un-modified alpine motor should run very well with 90+
octane. This at standard or very slightly retarded static
timing specs.
Here we use the R+M/2 method for spec'ing octane rating, so
your specs may be different then ours.
Here in the US, when the aromatics were removed, there
was huge worry on the part of the We car manufacturers.
Nissan motors had to re-call and replace the entire fuel
system on millions of late 70s early eighties cars, because
the o-rings used on the fuel injection systems shrunk somewhat
when the newer low VOC gas was used.
This caused fuel leakage and fires.
