<i'd like to know the specifics of how you pried off that mirror, and if
there was any damage to the trim that holds it on etc. and how it went
putting the glass back in. mine is toast, and i'd like to see whats
behind me....>

Hi Joe,

I was inspired by other people on this bullitin board to try and fix my old
mirror. I was able to get my fingernails behind the mirror and gently pry
the mirror out. The old mirror was held in place by what seemed like a
piece of double stick tape! If this was original, I'm amazed that it lasted
so long! The tape was still tacky!

The original mirror thickness is 1/16, but all the glass shop had was 1/8
in. mirror. After getting it cut, and installed you'd never be able to tell
the difference. The owner of the shop told me to be careful what kind of
glue to use to keep the silver part from corroding. He said to use
"non-corrosive" glue? I got home and trial fitted the mirror in place, and
found that it fit very snug in the opening. I decided to keep it in there
without glue until I found a suitable cement. It looks great!

Good luck!

Tom
