The MGB cars particularly the upright teclamite type filters are
notorious for quick loss in pump/gallery oil supply after shutdown.
Brtish Leyland promptly changed this design to the inverted cartredge
design, and these turn out to be a popular add on to the offending
MG models.

Originally the filter used on the series III to V alpines had the
anti-drain
baffle installed, and it probably worked. Today Fram specifies that
the correct Alpine spin on is PH-8, although there ar many filters that
share the same thread. I have not seen a filter in years that had the
proper anti-drainback feature built into the filter.

I am not even certain that such a part still exists.

The MG approach to invert the filter would be great if only such
and assembly existed for a Rootes based engine.
That asside, the next best thing would be to install a remote
oil filter kit, with the filter mounted inverted. These kits are fairly
inexpensive, and will allow a nearly spill free oil change too.
