Mounting Driving Lights

There are a number of pictures of driving lights on ALpines in McGovern's
book. None of them are mounted on a badge bar. There is one picture of a
badge bar - page 98. The lights are not mounted on that bar either. I
would suspect two things. First, "racers" who need driving lights would
not appreciate the "fluff" of badges. Second, mounting the weight of the
lights up high on the bar would only increase the vibration and wobbliness
of the lights, and possibly deform the metal where the badge bar is
mounted.

If you must have a badge bar, I seem to recall that the SAOC tech guide had
a description of how to build one. I won't swear by it, and mine is buried
for now. But, I know I saw a design somewhere.

P.S. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, that picture on page 98 of
Mr. Charles Eyre-Maunsell and his Alpine is the best picture I have ever
seen of an Alpine. Absolutely regal.
