What you describe can be purchased at just about any speed shop and
possibly Pep Boys or the local parts store. But I have definately seen
these at many speed shops.

Small-block Chevy V8 valve cover reinforcing washers (the standard size ones,
not the huge oversize ones) are easily available at any speed shop or good
auto parts store. I used about 2 sets more years ago than I care to remember
when I had to tackle that side cover leak for a second time.... as I recall,
I also ground a thread or two off the bolt behind the oil filter base,
too.....
