Yes because you need the air intake port to feed the crankcase with
fresh air to replace the the fouled air that is feeding the PCV and
manifold.
The early filler will let dirty air in, which is not desireable.
The secondary advantage will be that your valve cover wont get
that oil slick from the crankcase fumes.
