Andy, I checked my Series III GT...(calif car, no rust, never hit in the rear)
and the distance is symetrical at 19.5" per side. Having examined and cut up
other bodies I have noticed that the brace that goes inside that leg that
holds the bumper bolt does have some latitude for movement in the original
build process and even the nut holding the bumper bolt could have been
carelessly welded off center originally. If you only have a cm difference it
could have been the stamping operation when at the factory they stamped out
the hole for the license plate light ! As long as the trunk lines up properly
with the opening I would not worry....Sounds like you have your work cut out
for you....Speaking of weather, this morning when I went out to pull the car
cover off the car (its been rainin several days and colder) I got a piece of
ice where the water had stayed on top of the cover ! Hope that makes you
feel better about your weather. If I can be any help on other details pls
email me. My car is all original....I can send pictures over the internet of
just about anything.
