The channels in my Tiger were in similar poor condition.  I
wire brushed and rust-treated them, then painted with POR-15.
Sunbeam Specialties sells a rubber like material to hold the
window in the channel; you coat it with oil during installation
and that apparently causes it to swell and retain the glass...
