Well, Me thinks that we got the 70BHP 1500 here in the states, and
sales ceased in 1973, which I believe is well before the introduction
of the Avenger Tiger.

Yes, the 1498 engine has 1725 bores, but some really small stroke,
which would probably be great for a nice little race spec engine,
were it not for the loss in torque too.
Im not certain paying 99#UK (165USD) would be any sort of a deal,
because worst case, you could have an old 1725 block completely
sleaved for that price, then be in just about the same position.
