Use the 1500 flat top pistons for heavens sake!!
When you have reshaped the combustion chambers on the standard
Alpine head, You need the flat top pistons to come back to orginal comp.
ratio.
The standard Alpine (or Rapier or Hunter) head need some work.
The sharp edges in the inlet and exh. channels. You feel it easily with
your fingertip.
The shrouding around the inlet valve has to be removed. How much
and what shape? Get info from tuning book or tuning specialist. This is
NOT exotic work, just regular old tuning ideas.
The nice thing is that you feel your effort when you are driving
the car later.
Someone is thinking about racing the Avanger. That is a good
idea.
The car is behaving very well even in standard form. The body is
quite strong (2-door), the back axle is well located, the front need
some harder rubber. The engine has a very strong bottom end, safe 160 hp
from the 1800-2000 cc. engine. The head, well it is not crossflow, but
because of the short stroke and big bore, there are place for big
valves.
Parts?? as usual in U.K.
