I once was offered $10,000 for HERBEAM after she was presented 1st Place
Modified Alpine at SUNI II in Wisconsin. I'm glad I refused the offer. You see
I built the car with $5000 worth of parts (the body was free) and 2 yrs of my
own labor. After 50,000 trouble free miles I have more than gotten my money
back.....and for each hour spent building the car I have had the enjoyment of
driving the car......Plus with registration at $39/yr, no payments , no
interest and insurance at $90 every six months.......The car is worth well
over $12,500 to me.
I did sell a restored stock 67 V for $6,500 last year to my wifes foot doctor
and he thinks its the best thing since sliced bread (no pun on a Sunbeam
Toaster intended). His rational was the car was a 10, his wife was crazy about
it and he couldn't even come close looking at convertibles for sale in car
lots. He wouldn't sell it either, not even for $12,500.

So I know theres alot of us that think our cars are worth that much and they
are if you compare them to a new purchase or somebody elses depreciating piece
of jap/american junk!

Someday I may sell HERBEAM, but only after I have built another Alger that is
even more refined than the original!
