Solomon's Island

Wow, Solomons Island, Maryland. I haven't heard that name in quite
awhile. It fosters memories of my family and I on our 27' Catalina
sailboat out on the Patuxent and the Chesapeake in the early 70's.
I'll bet that place has changed quite a bit. I wonder if Zanheiser's
Marina is still there or the Solomons Island Crab House, the one that
stuck out into the Patuxent on a crusty old pier. Some of my best
childhood memories were created there. I, for one, would love to go
but sadly I probably won't. My car, though probably to be completed by
summer, is 2700 miles away and my money will be tied up in it, rather
than a vacation. But oh, the images that little town recalls for me.
I can feel in my bones a longing to be there when those Alpines and
Tigers roll past that old Victorian yellow house (probably not yellow
anymore) with the turret and sweeping veranda on the main drag into
town. If you go, look for it, you can't miss it. I heartily recommend
to anyone who can, go; you'll not regret visiting that historic and
beautiful place. The place that I will always remember and long to see
again.

Lost in SoCal,
