How much wear bar is left off the current face?
You can actually go beyond the wear bar, but the compression is
usually too high.
You cant go too far beyond the wear bar or the valve geometry gets
messed up, also you break into the side cover helicoils while milling.
The dings in the combustion chambers should not be a major
problem even if you cant remove them. Since you will need to
reduce the compression ratio a tad anyhow, you could get in there
with a die grinder and smooth it out.
Be certain that you have the head zyglo'd if it chewed up the valve
heads.
The impact could have cracked the heads.
Are the valve seats buggered?
Are the water passages OK?
If the head isnt otherwise primo, you may want to consider another
head instead.
