I only use canned paints, and no laquers that I know of. The box isn't big enough to accommodate parts that would require spraying so much that there'd be a combustion problem. And if there was, the paint job would be pretty bad or the box well-painted. :)

The room does smell of paint, but no more than it would if I painted the parts in the middle of any room.

The box idea is probably too crude for anything but spray cans.
