e-mail to a distribution list), unlike UseNet postings. Only other List members or people trolling the Archives (a tough and tedious job, *if* you know to look there) can see your post volume. I never get so much spam as when I make a UseNet post, which I do very rarely now. Unfortunately, because UseNet now has a long memory, thanks to DejaNews, things I posted a long way back (that I don't even remember posting) get trolled for addresses. Since I've had the same e-mail address for about seven years I'm still reachable from those old posts.

Also remember that browsers, especially those with integrated e-mail, can tell a website a lot about you. When I used to do web demos I learned to use an account specifically for that purpose, to avoid loading my inbox with junk, sometimes months later.
