It was a beautiful sunny day, the BBQ was fired up and picnic tables placed behind Smitty's shop. The burgers were big and juicy, the cheddar was sharp and tangy, and the folks had a good time.

Over the course of the day, about 60 people dropped by; some for the duration, others just for a few minutes. Tigers and Alpines numbered about 15 each, 3 Hillmans (Hillmen?), and a Sunbeam Minx 4 door sedan. The last car was driven in by an 89 year old lady who has owned the car since 1968. Her step isn't as springy as it used to be and she has lost her hearing, but she still likes a party!

The big show was when Dick Barker headed home with the Le Mans Tiger. He came to a full stop at the "Yield" sign, brought up the revs which rattled windows throughout the area, and released the clutch. As he straightened out the car a half block later, we could hear him shift to second, and then he was gone! The neighborhood kids are still telling stories about the spaceship that touched down and burned those two black trails in the middle of their street.
