But, since only one side of my car is hit, I would not want to have one side stiffer than the other. That would result in some pretty interesting flexing!

With this talk about rockers and strength, I'll add my bit...

My Series II was BADLY rotted (all 3 pieces gone on both sides!). I used 1/8" plate for the inner one, welded to the (repaired...) cross-brace ends. Then the "L" shaped inner was hand formed (I also found that the bottom section needed to get narrower at the rear). Then I bought the correct outer rocker pieces and hand made the round corner sections too.

ALOT of work, but NO more body flex, and its worth the extra weight. With the strength, it also give me some to weld a roll bar/cage supports to. Welding a rollbar to a thin floor or weak area is dumb...

I found out alot about welding upside down... I got pretty good at it too.
