Ok, so this is askew of our normal chatter. When my car first got hit I
considered starting again with a different car. Right now I am pretty sure
I am going to stick with Alpines. However one of the cars I test drove was
a guy's TR6 here at work. He has just left me a message about my car. I
am assuming he really wants to sell his car and I can probably get it for a
good deal. So hear is my question. I was less than excited by driving the
car. Maybe I should go so far as say I was disappointed. Maybe I am jaded
by the free revving nature of my Alpine with the Webers, cam, lightened
flywheel, etc. His engine was recently rebuilt by the Roadster Factory -
so it should be good, if maybe a little stiff. It has new brakes, clutch
and tires. The body is certainly straighter than my Alpine. It has two
downdraught Webers on it. Does anyone know what this car could be like
with three Webers and better cam? Or am I expecting too much from another
nose heavy car?

P.S. The other cars I tried: MGA (clean straight, original condition, but
worn, wouldn't start), Lotus Elan SII (feet way too cramped, build quality
lacking, and wouldn't keep running), MGTD (beautiful, really beautiful
original condition, original famous owner, not worn, too expensive, too
slow), Porsche 356A (good price, good running condition, not an English
roadster), TR4 (none found).
P.S.S. The bottom line with all of these cars was that they were too
expensive to start with a car that needed work.
