I'm proud to be the current owner of all the parts that some of you will one day need to keep your cars stock. I like to think of this assemblage as a Series III Alpine, but now I see that it's just the shell of a stock Alpine covered with Jaguar BRG paint, driven by a SV 1725 engine and tranny, connected to a NOS 3:89 rear end. Electrics are positive ground--which means a generator on a 1725, which also has dual WPs. The interior fabric is a heck of alot more comfortable than the stock vinyl. All of this stuff comes from at least three different series, because some body parts had to be scrounged from a II. Did I mention the chrome headlamp cowlings and American Racing wheels? Or the Peugeot thermostat? The exhaust system behind the headers is from another planet and at least 30 percent brazing rod.
When the 1725 goes belly-up (and it will even though it currently runs great), I'll probably convert to an electric motor. No rust--and no salt on the roads here, so it'll probably be 50 years before anyone can pry those georgous finned body panels from my estate.
I really respect those of you who have the time, energy and cash reserves to bring these beautiful machines back to stock. But me, I have enough trouble just keeping this one on the road (but it looks great).
