Gee, I thoght everyone knew this. I knew about this about 18 years ago when I was looking into the engine conversion that I was going to do. The Lotus 903 (Big Valve Twin Cam 1800) was one of the engines I was considering back then. but found it was too tall to fit under the hood at the front slope. When I was measuring the the engine in the wrecking yard showroom it still had the tranny attached. I noticed it looked familiar, since I had replaced the my non syncro for the all synchro in my 65 Alpine. I looked closer and found that it was indeed the same gearbox. I asked theguy at the counter what car this came out of, and he told me that it was a Jensen Healey. I didn't however know about the their change to the ZF geabox in later version of that great car. Hmmm Wonder if their ZF 5 speed would fit in Alpine's.....Makes you think !!
