Eric Wortmann and I went to Tigers United this past weekend to do some filming for a Rootes/Sunbeam film project we have been working on the last 6 months (both of our Alpines are still being restored and are not drivable). We are not members of CAT or any Rootes related clubs at this time. When I contacted Steve Sage about our project and our desire to shoot some "b-roll" during Tigers United, he unconditionally welcomed us with open arms. He gave us full access to the rally and autocross events as well as the concours. Eric and I got some great footage of the cars - Alpines AND Tigers. We just want to thank Steve for his hospitality.

On a personal note, I found the event to be fun and almost everyone I talked with to be pleasant (It was great to meet and chat with Christopher, Rick from SS, Steve Alcala, and Steve Laifman. Disappointed I didn't get to meet Ole although we got some fantastic shots of your car!). Yes, there were those few Tiger owners who made comments to me such as, "You own an Alpine? That car only has half an engine." I just let those comments roll off my back and think to myself that without the the Alpine, there would be no Tiger. I was warned quite awhile back from some TE/AE members about CAT's attitude towards Alpines. Maybe they were talking about the club newsletter and parts support, but even with the low turnout of Alpines at Tigers United, I felt CAT was fairly Alpine friendly. But I do agree with the post pertaining to having a few informal Alpine get togethers since Tigers get most of the attention. There was a very nice woman at TU with a pristine MK II Tiger that she had about $70K into (44K original miles). It won the concours I believe. Eric and I told her to watch out because we would be there next year with our Alpines!
