Rex:

I can't speak for the Alpines out on the West coast, but as of last season I was a tech inspector with RMVR and took interest in the Alpines that showed up and didn't show up at RMVR events. This is the story: Nick Chadd (from Colorado Springs) built the green Alpine using much advice from his mentor, Milo Muterspaugh (the Chevy rods, Datsun valves, Mitsu Valve springs and ultra high compression). After Nick/Donna split up, Nick sold the car to Roger Davis from Salt Lake City, who lobbied Nick hard for the car. Roger is a good driver and typically finishes in FRONT of the small bore group. Tom Ellis and his wife Kris from Boulder ran a grey Series IV that typically finishes mid-pack. They could've done better but Tom runs a vintage racecar shop and spends much of his time and attention on his customers at the races. Dick Orwig (Breckenridge) has/had an old blue and white Alpine racer but I've never seen it and Fritz Lindbeck (Salt Lake) took over Davis' yellow autocross Alpine to convert to vintage. That's all I know and it's been a year since I left beloved Colorado. Who ran the red Alpine at the Monterey Historics?
