Rex: This is the best run down on how to do an Alpine 5 speed I've come across. I had written to a couple of people who were rumored to have done this job but never heard back, for whatever reason. Of course, now that I know what's involved, I'll have to weigh how practical it is to do it. The relative simplicity of installing an overdrive may outweigh the 5 speed advantage in performance. Thanks for the detailed description.
