overdrive availability for SV

Hi All,

Are overdrive units (rebuilt or used) available for a 1967 Series V Alpine? If so, from where and for how much?

Here's a little background:

After spending a fair amount of time and $$ to get my Series V through the Quebec (RAQ) mechanical inspection to get it licensed after storing it for two years, my overdrive has given up the ghost.

I was driving home from the garage. As I accelerated in 1st gear off a light, something in the transmission went 'pop' and there was no more power to the wheels.

The garage tells me that one of the spline gears in the overdrive is completely sheared. They are trying to locate another overdrive unit.

My questions to the group:

Are overdrive units (rebuilt or used) available for a 1967 Series V Alpine? If so, from where and for how much?

If not, is it possible to remove the overdrive unit? what is needed run between the transmission and the shaft connected to the differential?

This car was running perfectly when put into storage 2 years ago. I've put in $1500 this summer just to get it back on the road and I just can't justify putting in much more $$. I fear that house, kids and other commitments will force me to sell.

Thanks in advance for any info,

Louis

I have a SI that has no engine nor trans. I have a Ford V-6 and T-5 trans for conversion. Will need to do a little body work and paint.
