I had a similar experience. I accelerated and pop. However, previous to this some wires loosened on the OD relay and fell off. I reversed not knowing the OD was still in gear. It made one hell of a noise but quite similar to the wire hubs grinding on a splined hub when the splines are worn and the wheel is loose. I was also experiencing grinding splines at the time.

Nevertheless, not knowing what happened but figuring it was somewhere around the tranny-OD system I looked. I saw nothing. However, I knew at this point I may have to drop the gearbox and took off the tailshaft.

The splined section of the Annulus remained inside the open end of the tailshaft. It was twisted and it broke off.

I found an annulus at a local 'import' wrecker. I opened the OD unit while it was still on the car, replaced the annulus, put it back together and it still works 3 years later.

However, I need to know how to adjust the isolator switch with the gearbox in place.

Doug ------- Problem: I was driving home from the garage. As I accelerated in 1st gear off a ight, something in the transmission went 'pop' and there was no more power to the wheels.

------- suggestion: I would suspect a broken tailshaft on the OD or tranny.
