Speaking of the new Alpine, Jay Laifman was right on with his prediction of what was wrong - the advance mechanism inside the distributor was frozen in the full advance position. This also ruined the advance springs by stretching them out permanently. You should have heard the parts people around town laughing as I tried to locate a new set. So I "recurved" them using pliers. Who knows what the advance curve is, but the car does accelerate better now. I still have a high speed miss, though. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot that would be much appreciated! ............................................................
