Jay, On my Mk1 tiger, I disconnected the bolts on the trunk lid and then hooked up the spring. The extra length on the arms that attach to the trunk lid allowed me to stretch the spring w/o any problem and then reattach the bolts. The only thing to be careful of is scratching the paint when the trunk lid is loose so it helps to have a second person and a towel to protect from damage. I did it one side at a time so the other side was stabilized while bolting and unbolting. Jay Peterson
