I saw the post from Steve Sage and thought it was interesting. I would like to see a picture of that ID plate. As for your response and comments about '50's Singers I believe they were just a pretty as the MGTD's of that era but they were a four seater touring car. They had 1500cc OHC motors with single or dual carburetion. Yes with the top up they looked strange but that was to accomodate rear passengers that the MG could'nt unless you opened the boot and let them sit on the lid. I cannot resist one comment at least the Singers doors swung closed the right way. I am sorry to see the MG mentality still lingers on. We don't need to bash British cars. We need to unite.
