Didn't mean to upset the multi-officed fan of the Singer Owner's Club. But my opinion of the Singer's aesthetic appeal is just that. My opinion. I never said it wasn't a fine collectible, just not a competitive sports car in that era. The MG also made a four seater. The "Y" Tourer, and it looked fairly decent, even with the top up. MG never claimed it was a "Sports Car".
Yes, the Singer had a nicely designed engine. Now if they only built a sports car, as they used to, instead of only the touring car (touted as a sports car), we wouldn't be having this discussion. My friend loved his, but we all had to wait in our MG's for him to catch up, after a Saturday Night "run" over Mulholland Drive, or through the twisty canyons of L.A.
I am sorry if a difference in opinion aggrieves you, but there is no malice intended, just my observations and my personal tastes. I do not consider a statement of facts to be "bashing", or a difference in taste to be "mean spirited"
Some people like fins, others don't. Rubens liked BIG women. So do a lot of folks. But everybody doesn't have to have the same tastes to be "Politically Correct". If I had maligned your favorite vehicle, it wasn't by a mis-statement of fact, or an intention to defame.
I agree that the "suicide" doors have had their day. They are gone, except for some retro Lincoln Continentals from the '60's. and a fantastic Chrysler Atlantique concept car. My, weren't they both pretty. I have never had a rear hinged door come open on me, and I took that car off road, and through h-ll. But I will tell you it was a lot easier to get in and out of that car in a parking lot than my Jaguar 120, with the hinges in the front.
Good luck with your car and your club. There is plenty room for diversity in this world. If there were no differences in opinion, we would never have parimutuel horse racing, and if all cars were equal we would have no reason to race them either.
