I can't see that being it. One of the first things Rootes did to Singer was to shut down production at Singer's plant in Birmingham. The new Rootes Singers went into production at Ryton alongside the Hillman, Humber and Sunbeam ranges.

The old Birmingham factory became the home for Rootes' parts and accessory division.

By the time the Alpine V came along the "real" Singer production line had been dead for nine years.

I would be interested to know what the chassis number is on that Alpine.
