My car does not have side turn signal lights. The only thing that is different is that there is a dome shaped relay for the horn.

Are there specific areas where the harnesses differ in layout? This was the major difference. The harness was not long enough to reach the tail lights by about two feet. Also the wire for the gas tank was only about 6" not about 20" which is on my car. This made me suspect that they are selling a Series III harness as a series II since the gas tank sender is in the rear wing.

or is it the color-coding that is at odds?

I never checked the colors since I had so many other problems. I am getting a harness from another Series II (American specs.) and I will report on what I find. Thank you to everyone for their help. Tom

Tom-

Please understand that I'm speculating here, I don't have any direct knowledge of the situation.

Due to tax considerations and "national interests", many countries required a local content factor in cars. France does have a history of protectionism, so it is very likely that the wiring harness fell into that category. What other non-standard features does your car have? Does it have the side turn signal lights that were required in many countries?

Are there specific areas where the harnesses differ in layout, or is it the color-coding that is at odds?

Give us the source of the problems, and maybe we can help ponder it.
