  I have K&N elements in my old filter housings. They fit perfectly
inside the circumference, however they are taller, so you need
different bolts and you also need taller sleeves (go inside filter)
that the bolts go through to prevent distortion of the covers. The K&N
part number is E-3220, I purchased mine from my local Pep Boys, special
order. They were about $20-25 each as I recall and are warranted for
life. I hear that K&N has a shorter filter that will work that is
almost the exact same size as stock filters, though still a little
taller. I went with 2" tall for more cfm. You'll need to call K&N to
find out which one it is, the 800 number is on their website.
