In a message dated 98-09-03 11:35:28 EDT, you write:

Isn't the compression ratio of a stock Alpine engine (9.2:1) way to high for
turbocharging? I thought you needed a CR down around 7:1 if you want the
 engine to last.

Which is rather easy to accomplish. Hillmans and Commers used low compressuion
cast-iron head versions of the 1725, with dished pistons of either 7cc or 15cc
volume. I plan on "someday" experimenting with this formula, using a cast-iron
head for durability. I'll need a custom grind cam, of course, and manifolding,
but I have the block and head already.
