I am replacing the wreckage of my S I dash-pad with a (not original)
fairly good one that was salvaged from a S V.
First, I would like to know how much gluing is needed on foam (if any)
and with what. (Permatex silicone sealant OK?)
(the S I pad originally extended around and under the scuttle lip and
was secured by a side to side metal band with small screws, while the S
V pad appears to have been slashed off in this area. and was fastened
only with rubber cement to the foam, the studs and screws of vent frames
and tonneau cover, and on each side and in the center (2) by what
appears to be tonneau studs)
Also, in replacing the windscreen frame to body seal, I received 1.5
pounds (enough to do 90 ft.!) of butyl rubber caulking with the seal
from S.S. I think I am supposed to use at least a single bead at the
front of the seal between the seal and the body (Tony Leeming?), but I
have enough to completely cover the seal on both sides (seal to frame
and seal to body).
Could someone tell me the correct amount and placement, and whether I
should use other sealant as well?
Thanks in advance for any help (my WSM is almost useless on this)!
