I've just changed my Alpine over to silicone. It hasn't been driven on the
road yet and is still some way off, but here are my findings to date:
- very heavy clutch
- the brake line connections need to be nice and tight otherwise the fluid
will find a way out.
- the fluid costs me A$70 per litre so I hope I don't need to top up too
often.
The latest news is that when I hopped into the Alpine two weeks ago the
brake pedal went straight to the floor. There was no fluid left in the
reservoir, but I couldn't find any under the car either. I assume then that
there was still air in the system which found its way out while the car was
standing. Oh great, I've got to bleed it again. Joy, joy, etc.
At least once it's sorted I shouldn't have to touch it for a long time.
